Accused gas-and-dash killer gets bail

Abdullahi Mohamoud, 22, of Mississauga, was released at the William Davis Courthouse yesterday by Justice of the Peace Jerome Redmond on a $10,000 surety recognizance of bail. Conditions of the bail include a complete prohibition from driving. Mohamoud is charged with failure to remain at the scene, criminal negligence causing death, theft of gas under $5,000, breach of recognizance and driving while under suspension in the death of gas station employee Hashem Atifeh Rad, 62, a married father of two. Rad was killed while trying to stop a gas thief at the Southdown Rd./Truscott Dr. Petro-Canada station where he worked as a cashier. The total value of gas stolen by the thief is $75.
